  This selection contains all Finnissy's free-standing works composed specifically for solo clarinet and for the duo of clarinet and piano!It also contains works for which the version here is not in the originally intended medium (in any case such a selection can only represent the current state of affairs and we hope there is more to come!) The pieces specifically intended for solo clarinet are Song 12 Marrngu Uzundara Cirit and Kolner Klarinette; Finnissy's only piece (so far) intended from the beginning specifically for the duo of clarinet and piano is Clarinet Sonata. Religion was originally sketched without its clarinet part; Einfaltiger Liederkreis was always intended to be additionally suitable for violin. Runnin' Wild was conceived for tenor saxophone and premiered on oboe. Maat Strikt originated as a work for unspecified soloist and accompanying ensemble. Mankind ReMix I was extracted from the clarinet part of Mankind a theatre work for voices and small ensemble. Recent Britain was originally conceived for an ensemble of piano clarinet (in C) bassoon and cello with optional 'assistant' and their respective pre-recorded tapes although the option of performing the work with piano and as few as a single one of the other instruments was planned from the beginning.
