• 内容紹介

  デイリー・ヨミウリ編集長を務めた那須省一さんの日英コラムが一冊の本になりました。「さるく」とは、宮崎県や長崎県の方言で、「歩く」という意味。紙面上で世界を自由に歩きながら、同じテーマを日本語と英語で書き、しかも対訳ではなく、英語だとこう書くという見本的内容となっています。生きた英語表現を読むことで、微妙なニュアンスの違いなどを知ることができ、英語圏の人と話すとき役に立つこと間違いなし。また国際事情を身近に感じたいという方にもおすすめの一冊です。

  那須 省一 (ナス ショウイチ)
  1954年2月、宮崎県西都市生まれ。79年3月宮崎大学教育学部卒業、同年4月読売新聞東京本社入社。地方部、国際部、英字新聞部などで勤務。国際部時代には、87年～90年ナイロビ支局、93年～96年ロンドン支局でそれぞれ勤務。2004年3月から06年9月まで英字新聞部が発行するデイリー・ヨミウリの編集長、06年10月から西部本社編集委員。
