  This book focuses on the engineering researcher Prof. Akira Atsumi, an emeritus professor at Tohoku University, who has struggled to accomplish the global research on the theory of elasticity in the ruins of World War II.
  This is an engineering biography nonfiction that describes Professor Atsumi passion for discovering the characteristic of the "interference phenomenon of stress concentrations" in the problem of many circular holes, notches, and spheres in intensive research. It is amazing to analyze the problem of a cylinder with many spherical cavities by using a hand-cranked computer without an electronic computer.
  This book also provides a detailed explanation of two-dimensional and three-dimensional analysis methods for elasticity. In particular, methods for analyzing flat plates with many notches and holes, and cylinders with many spheres are also described in detail.
